Well my jeep has developed this ticking that your talking about its loud when i crank it cold and its a slight tick after its warm so im just not going to bother going to the dealer im just gonna run it till she blows and put a 4.0 in it my Jk only has 41k on the clock so i got a while
sucks about your jeep im sorry dude always make sure to get everything in writing that a dealership says you have.

also the ticking the OP is complaining about is on the new 3.6L pentastar engine in the 12-13 model years the 07-11 still have the 3.8 minivan motor i am not aware of the 3.8 experiencing the same issue so might be something else to look into

Call Chrysler customer service, make a complaint and have it filed with them. Drive the shit out of your Jeep until it breaks or until they realize that it is making abnormal noises.
I have a similar problem with my Harley. Told condition is normal, but doesn't appear on all bikes. Load of crap. So I filed a complaint with HD and if it fails after warranty, they fix it.
If you don't like noises, don't ever buy a Hog

You have air in the cooling system. Have the dealer "burp" the system or do it yourself. Just make sure you add the same OEM coolant.

Has any one been having similar problems with the 2013s?

I recently had to take my 2013 into the dealer to be "burped" for similar sounds coming from the dash. Evidently they're very familiar with the issue because they said they needed to jack the front end up and then burp the system. It was a simple fix but they ended up having to detail the jeep because they blew coolant all over the place. Problem was resolved but I didn't think to check the coolant level before I left the dealer. Next day I looked under the hood and I had almost zero coolant in the overflow tank. Resulted in another trip to the dealer to have them add coolant since I didn't have any of the new type at home.

We had our 12 jk in the shop multiple times for the same thing, they replaced the #1 head and then when we got it back, it sounded like a pulley had a squeek in it... they said it was the alternator and needed to be replaced.. Well after they replaced it they decided they need to replace the #2 head?? any one else have this much trouble?

I just got my 2012 back on 12/21 after they replaced the drivers side cylinder head. I noticed a ticking noise today again, this time coming from the passenger side. Taking her back into the dealer tomorrow to see if they're gonna need to replace that head too...which I'm guessing is the case. I am extremely unhappy at this point! A vehicle only 9 months old with less than 6,000 miles should be having to go through all this engine work!
