Is under the hood insulation,an option? I saw a rubicon with it but my 2013 sport doesn't have it.

 

Am I missing something here? Don't you want to keep the heat under your hood as cool as possible? Or at least near the air intake? Not being a smart ass.... if not, I'd like to hear about it...

 

That is funny My 07 JKU rubicon did not have it ...but my 2012 JK does......no rhyme or reason!

 

It's on all Sahara's, but I'm sure it's an option on other models.

 

There are a lot of weird theories on the hood insulation including fire dampening etc but I suspect it is just there for noise reduction. Took mine off ages ago and no probs. gives me somewhere to stick stickers

My 2013 Rubicon Unlimited has it. maybe it was something added to the rubicon and sahara? or is it related to the 4 doors? I never looked under the hood of any 2 door or sports when shopping.

 

Only Rubi's and Sahara's have the insulation... Probably just sound/vibration dampening...

 

I would want to keep The TEMP under my hood as cool as possible. I was just asking who gets the insulation. I could see A sahara,but not a rubicon. yet a rubicon had it.

 

It came on my 08 Rubi, the thing did nothing except Soak and hold water, it was horrible. Scratches super easily if you are wrenching in the engine bay as well. Took it out which took an all of 1 minute I think? I cant imagine there is too much reasoning behind it besides noise and possibly help against fires, but that might be giving it too much credit
