Default 2014 rubicon

Looking to get a new Rubicon. Wife wants a automatic with navigation, anything I should know before making the deal with the devil. Any info is appreciated.

Select the 4.10 gears when buying. Most Rubicon's come with 3.73's now, the 4.10's will let you run up to 35" tires without forking out $1500-2000 for a re-gear!

Also buy every option now, that way you won't want it later and have any regrets. It'll only hurt once!

Don't waste money on factory nav - the unit sucks. You'll get much more out of aftermarket units or even google maps on a smartphone. I'd say the same about any of the stereo units as well...I payed extra for the "upgrade" and it was crap - I ended up putting in aftermarket speakers/head unit for less than the price I payed for the upgrade...lesson learned!

I've had no problem with the nav. I have a 2012 Rubi. It's basically an inbuilt Garmin.

Fair enough - to each his own. I just prefer all of the points of interest, restaurant reviews, free traffic updates, slicker more responsive touchscreen etc. that a smartphone nav offers. I couldn't stand it on the OEM...it felt like a Garmin from 5 years ago, Not to mention it costs $1,000 or even $1800 depending on which one you choose. That's the insane part - If it's basically a Garmin (as others have outlined), then buy a top of the line Garmin for a few hundred bucks...haha - Spend the other $1500 on upgrades Again, just my POV

This is the info I was looking for. The two I'm checking out do have the 4:10 gears not 3:73 like other ones. Thanks for the input.

I have a 2012 with the 3.73 and run duratrac's without any issues. I have ran them for sometime without the Procal. The Procal is needed for shifting and speedo with the tire. I don't think the 4.10 is needed for a 35" tire. I wheel and use every day and still get 18-20 with lift bumpers and rock rails.

It's not 100% needed, I'm running 3.21's but 4.10 will perform better than 3.73. Since he has option may as well get what's ideal
