Default 285/70/17 or 295/70/17

Im sure this has been answered somewhere in the forums i just dont want to look around for it. I would like to know if anyone knows the difference between these two sizes? And which would look better with no lift? I would lift it but worried about the dealership voiding my warranty. Anyways has anybody ran 295/70/17 or 285/70/17? Pics would also help me decide. On discount tire they are like $9 apart so i want to know if the 295's being skinnier will not look as good as the smaller but wider 285's. Thanks!

I think with stock lift, both of those will have the possibility of rubbing.

Well actually the 295 tires are wider than the 285 tires. The first number in the tire size is the width of the tire in millimeters and the second number is the percentage of the width that equals the sidewall height.
Ultimately, it comes down to opinion. I like the wide tire look but realize its impracticality. Wider tires means worse gas mileage due to larger amount of friction. Also depends on your snow and ice conditions of your area, or if your going on the beach. I am going with 315/70/17 duratracs

What he said^^ but that percentage of the sidewall means together the two sidewall heights are %140 of the tread.

295 or 285 70, it doesn't matter. With these two tires the size of the lift has less to do with clearance or rubbing as does the offset of the wheels they are mounted on.

They will be on 4.5 inch backspaced wheels. Hopefully fuel kranks!

285 x 70 x 17 = 32.7 x 11.2 x 17
295 x 70 x 17 = 33.3 x 11.6 x 17

Not much difference

Oh, and 1.5" wheel adapters. They are absolutely necessary with 285 and wider (also possibly narrower, i dont know) or the tires rub on sway bar at almost full lock.
