Default 3.6 serpentine belt

I own the 3.8L. Friend owns the 3.6L. He asked me to give him a hand changing his belt. How much harder could it be I thought. Well apparently its a lot harder. Do you need to remove the alternator? What other parts of the engine do you need to dismantle? I mean really, could you make a belt change any more complicated?

I know on the 3.8 it took me 5 minutes. Just press down on tensioner with 3\8 ratchet head. how is the 3.6 different?

I know. I have the 3.8. The 3.6 is a completely different pulley set up. The alternator seems to be the problem, can't get the loop around it. Needs to be removed so it seems.

The 2012 service manual says to remove the alternator support bracket. No mention of removing the alternator.

I use a 36" .5" ratchet reduce to 3/8" to pull the tensioner back, it's little tough cause it's hydro
