Nice truck. I miss mine too, but I love my JKU. I was spending over $100/week on fuel with the Chevy 5 years ago, and that was just too much for me to handle at the time. For a truck, it was awfully smooth on the highway.

I remember getting pretty descent gas milage from it. Certainly better than the Jeep I have now. It had a huge gas tank. I think 24 gallons. If you went with the 2500 series it came with I think a 27 gallon tank and true duel exhuast (no Y pipe). Its funny but the Avalanche and the Rubicon are totally on the extreme ends of Truck capability. The Avalanche could get through anything. The Wrangler can get through anything. Thats all they realy shared in common. The neatest thing about the Avalanche was how easy you can sleep in it. THrough down the midgate insert queen size air mattress and you are good to go. I also loved how smoth the ride was as you pointe out. It drove more like a boat than a truck. Very comfortable. Funny how I had no interest in lifting it. TO me, it looked better stock stance with meaty tires. i usedto show it.

Shit... 6" of snow barely warrants 4wd. We had 3' on the roads in Hayden, ID the winter of 2008, snowed so hard the plows all had to focus on I90 and Hwy95. Was pretty awesome winching to a telephone pole, and watching all the Prius owners stare dissaprovingly.

The Raptor and the Power Wagon are on the extreme ends of truck performance. The Avalanche was a decent performer, but absolutely not extreme.

Guys it was a test. That's the whole purpose of a test. And no, nothing was screaming. I have enough common sense to not push something to its screaming point, except for my ex girlfriend. That's another story.

So I went to Rausch Creek yesterday and had the opportunity to really see what the wrangler can do. It was an amazing time and completely see why rock crawling is so addictive. I was in 4Lo on all the blues trails we went on. So I want to tke this oportunity to tell you that there was NO WAY I was going 50mph in Lo as I had claimed in an earlier post. No Way!

That being said, 4Lo is nothing short of amazing. Having driven stick on many other vehicles ive owned in the past, its a realt novel concept of not having to use the gas pedal at all when starting out or starting out in a gear other than 1st still using no gas when its required to do so. Torgue is an amazing thing. The Avalance is still a great truck but certainly no Wrangler.
