Default 4k Miles and back to the dealership it goes

2011 Rubicon/ 4,000 miles

Purchased my Jeep this past November. I have noticed while doing my first oil change on the Rubicon that the undercarriage has a great deal of corrosion and rust. The driveshaft has completely corroded and the control arms and other sections are exhibiting the same problem. Very disappointed with the finish. To think that we had a very light winter season and such wear.

The second issue is that whenever I go over a bump, I get a loud “thud” sound coming from the left side of the Jeep. Does not happen on the right side.
***Fixed with some lithium grease to the door striker.***

I am taking it in this Friday. I have a feeling the dealership is going to tell me that everything is normal. Should I accept this answer or is something wrong on their end? This is my first Wrangler.

Windshields already cracked but that’s my fault or the damn sand on the road.

Thin paint on suspensions-you may be part of the recall. The driver's side thud is the door striker-search it. There are pages of posts on all forums about it. Just lube it up_that's all they'll do at the dealer.

Thank you, I will try and lube the door striker.

So there is a recall on the suspension finish, I was researching the recalls and didn't see that. Thanks.

Any heavy metal stamping, forged iron part, or spring, driveshaft etc. only has a minimal coat of paint if anything as these parts are not subject to rust-out. As an autobody repairman for over 30 years, I've seen virtually every make of car and truck- they are all the same. Suspensions have very little appearance finishing done on them. If it bothers you buy a couple cans of Rustoleum spray and shoot the stuff.

Ditto on the Tin Mans above. Rustoleum Paint, Bedliner roll on or spray you can usually pick up at Auto zone or Wal-Mart. Rust is the nature of the beast. Make sure you clean it really good before you spray it, otherwise it'll come right back under the paint. Right nore it is probably just light powdery rust that you can clean off with some green scrubbys. I paid some good money to have mine coated with ZieBart or some name like that. I like to hit the beach and drive in snow. It will be worth it a few years down the road.

Yup, electrical tape for the door. As for the "rust" when I bought my jk the dealer showed me just before signing the rustic look in all the parts. Looked at other jks on the lot and they were the same

I added electrical tape to all door jams and there is no more clunk.
