4wd
Hey,
Big storm here in NY. Went to test my 4wd and what do you know... Doesn't even work. T case lever floppy. Last year replaced white bushing. Took 10 minutes. Tried again tonight and the bushing still in place. Not broken. New problem.
Anyone know what it might be? And temporarily how to put this jku into 4wd?
Thanks.
FD.

Did you look at only the bushing on the t-case end of the shifter cable? If so, look at the end of the cable in the console. It has the same setup. That bushing has been know to fail, too.
Here is a picture of the cable in the console, showing a temporary fix. (Maybe not so temporary.)

Thanks. That's what I looked at. Maybe I described it wrong, sorry
Inwas proud I remembered what my friend did when we did this last year and that I remembered to buy extra white pieces for a few dollars. I'll look again.

In that case, put a new bushing on the t-case end while you are under there manually shifting it.
I would if I knew what you were referring to. And now tsar I have 13" of snow it'll have to wait.
Thanks for the responses. I'll get under and look later when I pull into my driveway when it's cleared. Driving well as it is. Good grip with the duratracs and the lift. Plenty of clearance.
Thanks again.

There is also a plastic bushing on the t-case end of that same cable. It breaks, too, leaving the floppy lever you have. Someone mentioned getting underneath to manually move the t-case lever to put it into 4wd.
I suggested while you are under there, put one of your new bushings on the t-case end of the cable.

It looks like you have a brass bushing on there and some sort of clip.
I had a machinist friend make some brass bushings, but have not yet looked into installing them.
The clip in your picture; does the pin go through a hole in the shaft, or is it just fitting into some sore of groove on the shaft?
Are the shafts that hold the bushings the same on both ends; T-case and shifter?
Thanks

The clip in the picture doesn't go through a hole in the pin, as far as I can see, looking closely at the picture.
There is a groove near the end of the pin.
I would prefer an E-clip in that groove, with the brass bushing.
