Duct tape locked his cable in for the ice storm.
Here is a picture of the item byrdock is talking about. It anchors the cable casing so the cable can apply motion to the t-case shift arm. There is one under the console, too, but I don't know if it is identical to this one.

You guys all rock! Interior bushing is ok. Checked again this afternoon. Climbed under today and saw that the same bushing underneath was cracked. Replaced and all good. Just need more snow. It's all melting now.
