Default 4x4 light problem

Hi all,

Previously, my 4x4 light would go on the second I engaged four wheel drive. Today, it takes a while to light and a while to go off. I checked on a snow bank, and the actual 4x4 system seems to work just fine, it's just the light that has developed a problem keeping up.

Any ideas?

Sorry, I meant the "4WD" light.

My 4WD light also hesitates when it goes on and off. I believe it started doing that about a year ago after it was at the dealer for some type of servicing.

The 4WD is working correctly. I was using it today without any problems in the 9 inches of snow in the back lots at work that have not been plowed.

Just like a couple of you guys had stated before, my 4 wheel drive indicator also takes longer as well! Of course this also happened right when the dealer had to install some newer electronic stuff after the other decided to crap out on me...

I only had my Jeep at the dealership for two significant items last year, and both were in January. I was having problems with the U-Connect, and had it in three times for that before the problem was corrected, and the other was to have the scheduled 4x4 maintenance done.

I remember that it snowed just after one of the visits to the dealership, and that when I engaged the 4 wheel drive, the light did not come on immediately as it had in the past. I even remember thinking that it was strange that the 4WD light hesitation did not start until after it had been at the dealership.

So it seems pretty clear that the dealer is somehow responsible...perhaps one of the recalls reprograms the behavior of the light.

The question is...why, and how do I get the old behavior back?

mine does the same thing. i noticed it at the first light i came to right after leaving the dealer after the trasmission overheat update. called them and they basically blew me off saying they didn't do anything that would have affected the indicator light. i hate dealer's service!!!

Oh goodie!! Something new for me to take the Jeep in for next week after they fix the random ding problem...and the panic alarm problem...and who knows what else... What's next on the list? Although I have yet to actually have this problem with my 4wd light, I am fully anticipating it in the future. I just hate these "mystery" electrical issues because it is stressful.... Everytime I get some stupid electrical malfunction, some light going off, some unusual noise, I get all stressed out thinking something is majorly wrong with my Jeep. Even though it has never been a major problem, all these stupid little electrical issues are becoming a major headache. I think my jeep has chronic hiccups.
