The 2008 JK manual transmission makes noise a little bit. This is normal, because it's not a car; it's a truck. It makes the same noise of a manual full size pick up.
Don't expect to have the transmission of a Japanese car.

2008 Sport Edition Unlimited 6 Speed
Only 875 miles -
Having clank and squeek issues from clutch. Still did not apply TSB for changing clutch disc since dealership said he changed one to another one last week and still makes the clank. Just waiting... The only thing I know for sure is that there´s something wrong down there.

Got my 2008 in February, started squealing at about 3,500 miles. I'm at 7,400 now and still squealing, it has gotten a little louder. Need to get the tsb done but have not had the time. Starting to get a chirp in the rear end but only at slow speeds. This aggravates me more. As long as everything works properly I don't really care.

Also got the clank but that does not bother me.

That's hilarious!

Every time a passenger gets in my JK (it happened with my TJ also) and I start driving, after a few minutes they always ask, "What's that noise?" Of course, my reply has always been, "What noise?" Then the passenger starts pointing out the tire noise from the over-sized knobby tires, the transmission noise from the stick-shift, the wind noise from the soft top, the engine noise from the high torque at low speeds, the vibrations from the bike rack mounted on the spare tire carrier, the clanking sound from the b-pillar behind the driver's seat and an assortment of noises that come from the tools, jacks and rescue equipment I carry in the back. I just laugh and tell them those are perfectly normal.

Then they see me waving at total strangers in other Jeeps as if we're brothers!

Some people just don't understand.

Do you know what the TSB number was on that one? I swear my clutch slips intermittently in first gear starting out. I've drive 5 and 6 speeds for years upon years and I've never had a transmission engage so erratically before.
