Default ABS Module - common problem? - is it this code?

Hi

My daughter's 08 began showing "C2200 Anti-lock brake module internal code". I cleared it a few times but it comes right back. Google seems to say that the ABS module needs replacing. My local mechanic who seems to know what he is talking about is doubtful. He thinks it is more likely a wheel speed sensor - this code came up a couple of weeks ago. I replaced the sensor and all seemed ok until now. Also the parts person at the dealership says this is an uncommon problem.

Is it likely the ABS module? The part isn't cheap. Take the chance and replace it or let the mechanic do a diagnostic? Would his scanner give more info than mine?

Thanks for the help

X2. I'm experiencing the same c2200. My 08 has just over 75,000, seems a lot of these posts with this code are right around the same milage. My reservoir isn't the cleanest so may have some contamination, have tried draining and bleeding the brakes but not been able to clear the codes. Don't really want to spend $1000 for dealership to change, I understand a new ABS module needs to be flashed but wondering if I can change the ABS module and bleed the brakes then take it to have it flashed.

Above was my post from 3 years ago, I ended up having dealership replace the module and flash it, cost around $800...it did fix my issue.

2200 ABS module internal, not a wheel speed sensor. I have had codes before for wheel speed sensor. Mine is an 08 as well, 105K.

Thanks - I couldn't find any Deoxit but I picked up some other contact cleaner and some dielectic grease. I'll give it a try - fingers crossed. The ABS module is very hard to find at the moment - closest I found so far is in Florida - maybe - I'm in Alberta - hope FedEx is working.
I'll let you know how it goes

I'm not a fan of dielectric grease. That stuff just prevents water from getting to places where it can corrode. It does not actually improve the electrical contact of copper to copper. The grease itself is not conductive. (Correct me if I am wrong). That's why I use products such as deoxit which actually clean the copper.

Does it make sense that the abs/engine/brake lights are all off when it is first started and then come on only after getting up to about 20 km/hr? I noticed that tonight before cleaning the connector.

The connection was a bit dusty but I didn’t see any corrosion. Not sure if a different contact cleaner would have made a difference. If I see that brand though I’ll give it a try.

Thanks

Garth, give Dave or Eric a call at Broken Axle. They just relocated to Okotoks. They have an advanced scanner that will tell all. Also there is a plug C102 on the engine side of your battery box that takes all the power, plus other signals for other things, through from the TIPM to the ABS module. Ensure good contact in there as well. I had the same code but it was because I chopped the TIPM side plug off thinking it went to my old 3.8. Fixed when it was all joined up again.

Thanks. I’ll see if I can find that the plug and if I don’t have any luck with my local mechanic I’ll look up Broken Axle in Okotoks.
