Stock JK TechBulletin board forum regarding issues with OE (original equipment) components of the Jeep JK Wrangler (Rubicon, Sahara, Unlimited and X) such as factory suspension parts, engine, transmission, body parts, interior fixtures and the on-board computer.
Not sure what to say man, always buy original factory when it comes to sensors. This should have been an easy online purchase and literally 5 mins to pop it in for a rear sensor.
I'm having the same problem, do you happen to know where exactly the short in the wiring was so I can check it out? Thank you.
Yea, it was where the wire is attached (or used to be) to the frame via those little plastic nipples. It had long ago pulled the nipple out of that hole and it was within an inch of 2 of where that plastic connector is attached to the wire housing.

Of the 2 wires, one was broken?
or was the connector....you said that had 11 volts...so how can it be a wire if you had the voltage?
I have the same problem..looked at the wires and seem to be ok...just a bit loose connector at the sensor and I got 11.5 volts.
Thanks

Legitimate question and I don't really have an answer to that either. The fix lasted about a year but just a couple months ago I replaced the entire sensor plug because I had the issue return and when i looked at the pins inside the sensor they had become corroded. Just another thing to check if you can't seem to find any issue with your wires.
C1020 code.. replaced wheel speed sensor and had a mechanic reset abs module ,traction, esp and ,serv4wd lights still on cruise control not working and the only way to engage 4wd is to engage it then start engine works fine with all lights illuminated. I have another module to replace this one but not sure what my next step should be maybe trace wire harness back and see if there's a break
Hello all, I'v been dealing with this issue for some time. After replacing the ABS control module the problem was still there. Long story short, The pins in the ABS control module plug where loosing contact. I found a place called connector specialists. the part number for the pins is Term119. replacing the pins on my 2010 JK fixed it.
Hope this helps..
So I have read through many threads pertaining to this issue and have gone through a bunch of different tests and steps to attempt to get my error to clear to no avail. I am at a loss at this point so looking for anyone who has maybe dealt with this issue. Breakdown of what has transpired is below . . .
>Mid November the ABS & Traction Control lights come on after a week of driving muddy/rocky fire roads.
>Take jeep to the car wash and thoroughly spray all surface under/in/around wheel etc. Light shuts off while pulling out of car wash bay only to come back on 30 seconds later. It then proceeds to shut back off for half a day and then come back on for good up to present date.
>Connect to code reader and see that it is C1020 - Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor. Pulled wheel speed sensor and cleaned the sensor and sensor mount/cavity and put back together. Light still on.
>Tried using the ABS module of the reader to erase the code with no luck.
>Pulled sensor back out and put it on the ohm reader and could not get an ohm reading. Purchased new sensor (read 4+- ohms) and installed that. Light still on/attempted to erase code with same result. ABS/Traction lights still on.
>Drove jeep around 15miles at speeds above 50. Still not cleared.
>Pulled everything back apart and used meter to make sure I was getting proper voltage through the harness. Just shy of 11v . .. all good. Checked the speed ring to make sure it was not full of grease as I did notice it seems its about time for new axle seals although bearings might be about ready for replacement but there does not appear to be any play in them quite yet. Pics of this step below (after cleaning grease out from the teeth on the speed sensor wheel.) I even disconnected the plug under the hood where a guy had mentioned having a few loose pins where it goes into the firewall.
Any ideas? No cruise control is getting old!
First check if you have issue with clockspring
check the sensor Ohm should read between 900 to 2000 mean sensor are okay check the wire should give you 5.v or less otherwise wire could be damage somewhere you may need device to trace wire clear all code that run test i advise to use Jscan its made for jeep ll help you a lot you can use Icar OBDII you get it from Amazon
good luck
