Default adding remote start

I just picked up an '08 X Unlimited off the dealer lot. It has the power group but does not have the remote start option.

Can remote start be added? Ar new key fobs required? The salesman told me new keys were about $165 each for replacements. I wonder if the entire fob has to be replaced or is it just upgraded.

I'll call the dealer tomorrow, but was just wondering if anyone had this added after purchase.

Thanks

John

I thought all 08s with automatics came with remote start. My sales guy said mine would have it but I knew the 6 speeds wouldn't come with it. He tried to tell me ALL 08s will have remote start.

Hi
I got the dealership to put on the jeep remote starter on my 08 sahara. Its a key fob you still use your original keys to open and lock your jeep.

New for 08 is a nice integrated package for remote start.

the kit includes only the hood-switch and 2 replacement keys with the start button included (no stupid fobs). Most of the install is reprogramming I was told be a senior jeep tech.

the kit is for sale at all dealerships,...or this one on ebay, I will do this addition soon with the new heated seat kit.

What is the "hood-switch" you are referring to?

What does it do?

hey john the hood switch is so that if the hood is open the jeep wont start, safety feature....and this is a cheap way to get to new keys too

all 08's do NOT come with remote start it is a $188 option and ot order it from the factory you have to order the power option, but you dont have to have the power for it to work

can regular locksmith cut the keys or does dealer have to do that too?

check out jparts.com for the remote start too, send them an email, the 2008 remote is not listed on their site but they can get anything they are actually a jeep dealer and it will be 15% off and cheaper then the guy on ebay....they told me it listed for 206 when I emailed them so 15% off of that I believe, but I could be wrong lol
