Default Airbag warning light?

So, pretty straight forward, my airbag indicator keeps turning on and off. I've noticed it only happens when I turn to the right or left. Anyone know why this would happen? Should I be extremely concerned? The chime is rather annoying.

I’ve seen others mention something called a clockspring in relation to this problem. I have no personal experience with this but here is a related thread.

I believe it is the clockspring. Question...did your dash get wet recently? My cousin had the same problem where he was caught out in the rain with his top down and his dash got wet which caused the same problem.

Mine was doing that. So I took it in and the dealer said I had a dead airbag. So the computer thinks it went off! I was quoted 292.00 for the airbag and 88.00 for shop fee.

Argh... Dealership fees... I suppose I'll take it by and see what they have to say.

99% sure it's your clockspring. there was a recall on 2007 left hand drive model and looks like alot of right hand drive models. i have a 2009 with the light and chime going off. havent gotten it fixed yet. i filed a complaint with the DOT but they said there aren't enough complaints on the later year RHD jeeps to include in the recall.

i urge anyone with this issue to file a complaint with the DOT. it's easy online and if enough people do it, the recall will be expanded to include all the years.

i still can't understand the logic from the DOT. they are the same fng part in all of the years!

to file a complaint: https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/

here is the recall notice: i dont see any info about LHD models now...i think it used to be in there.

x2 on the clockspring. I don't know about '09, but Chrysler sent me a notice about my '07 saying that some of them had a defective clockspring and they would warranty it up to 150,000 miles or 10 years, or something like that. Airbag warning light was the symptom.

Of course it might be something else in the airbag system too, those systems are pretty complex. Assume your airbags are nonfunctional, and drive accordingly until you get it looked at...
