Am I stupid for even thinking about this?

The Auto tranny in my '12 can be shifted and or kept in any gear you want......it is easy to have total control of the shifting or gear choice if you so choose.

I do know how if feels if you want a manual and have an auto. Its one of those things thats probably going to bother you until you just do it and buy one. I currently have a 2013 6 speed rubi and love having the manual, even tho brand new it still shifts like crap makes noises and shakes. Im sure theres nothing wrong with having the auto, but its all about what you enjoy and have fun driving. I can tell you from personal experience, I have bought a car before that was auto and I should have gotten a manual and I ended up trading it in and lost a decent amount of money in the process, but we all make mistakes and life will go on. Good luck on your decision and I hope you enjoy your jeep whatever route you choose.

if i wheeled a lot I would likely go Auto any day.. esp for really slow rock crawling or heavy duty Mudding.. shifting in the mud can get you in trouble.. and unless you have a rubi in the rocks you make some clutch smoke now and then...

that said, I dont do that kind of wheeling so I got a manual because i LOVE to shift.. my last JK was an auto and I always felt myself reaching for the Gear shift or stomping the floor with my left foot as I came to a stoplight...

so yeah I totally get it.. if you can afford it swap out for a Manual!

I get it too. I had an '11 auto and power locks, hard top, etc. it was a sport s. drove the 13 6 speed with soft top, no power extras. Pretty stripped down. It's a soft top sport w/ steel wheels. Got it with a rebate and did pretty well. Financed through my insurance company bank. I know we are to look at the bottom line and not the monthly pmt. but I live month to month and came out 57.00 per month cheaper and the insurance went down too. Better % rate too. Did I have to start over with pmts? Sure but I have a new jeep with a 6 speed & soft top and a fresh warranty.

If losing money isn't your main concern, switch. I've regretted not getting a manual from day one to recent. I drive 10spd all day and figured I'd want a break when driving the jeep, not the case.

The Pentastar motor is night and day performance-wise and I love it! I don't even care what people say about "sitting in traffic with a stick" I'd rather have it all around.

As I'm sure I don't have to tell you, it is a totally different driving experience both on road and off. Again though, I'm single, no kids, nobody else drives it and I'm dead set on always buying a manual if I have the option. All the pros and cons are up to you! Good luck whatever you decide!
Amen, I feel the same way, stick forever!
