Default Annoying Clunk!

Does anyone else have an annoying clunk, either in the drivers door or the door pillar when hitting a bump? I can't seem to locate the source and it's driving me crazy!

thank god, i thought it was just me. Its driving me nuts. Its not a rattle, but a definate clunk like something is popping or hitting against the plastic in the b-pillar. I snooped around one day when i had my doors off, but i couldn't see anything obvious.

Here is a thread that addresses a couple of different noises including the clunk we're experiencing. It seems it is the door latch making a clunk that travels up the pillar. It says in this thread that there is a revised door latch that fixes the problem. I have an appointment at the stealership Thursday, or I may try fixing it myself. I also drove around with the door open and did not hear the noise

you just have to adjust the striker of the door with that clunk, unscrew the striker and push it in one millimiter at a time untill you don't have the clunk, for sure you are gonna get ride of that annoying sound, i had the same problem and it went away with that simple procedure..........

Thanks, I just tried it this morning but haven't driven it yet. now I can cancell my appointment. I'm sure it would just wind up being more annoying than the clunk.

The trick to adjusting the striker plate is to loosen the two torx bolts, and slowly close the door while peeking in through the gap to see where the plate is located in relation to the door mechanism. Make adjustments so that the catch on the plate is centered up exactly in the door mechanism gap.

FWIW both of our JK's had the exact same problem, and all it took was adjusting the striker plate on both of them to eliminate the clunk.

JEEP has a revised door latch mechanism for the JK. I had the clunk/rattle and the revised door latch mechanism cured the problem. Previously, I had tried to adjust the door striker but it only helped somewhat with the clunk/rattle when going over bumps/rough road.
