Billarf, My dealer is unaware of a revised latch do you have a reference number or a part number so I can bring them up to speed.

Thanks.

I'm just up the road from you. My dealership is Hyde Park Motors located near Poughkeepsie, NY. Anyway..........
My Service Manager also could find no TSB on the revised door latch. I told him I had heard there was a revised door latch assembly that would cure the clunk/rattle in my drivers door. Anyway, the Service Manager wanted to meet my request... I got the idea to talk to the Parts Manager and asked that he look for a revised door latch on his computerized parts listing. Sure enough a revised latch assembly was listed. The Service Manager told the parts guy to order it. Two days later it arrived at the dealership and the latch assembly was installed. Time charged to perform the work was 0.70 hrs. The part number for the revised drivers side door latch assembly is 4589277AF according to Service invoice. From what the parts guy said there was also an available passenger side door latch assembly.

By the way it is a latch assembly. The door has to be opened up for the new mechanism to be installed. After the job was done there was no external sign that the door had been worked on. The revised latch assembly totally got rid of the annoying clunk/rattle that I had when going over bumps. The assembly was replaced under warranty...

Default Thank You

Thank you, BILLARE...I tried the adjustment to the latch, went thru the centering process, but could only reduce the clunk...I'll hit my stealership with this data...I had called but they said they knew nothing about a new revised door latch...gratias!

As I mentioned my Service Manager looked and found no TSB. He looked very closely. Parts showed the revised latch mechanism. In all fairness to YOUR Service Manager he can't see what apparently is not easy to find, etc. Anyway, there is a 'revised' latch assembly which indicates there is an issue with the original assembly. This alone leaves the door open so to speak (pun intended) to order the revised assembly and cover it under warranty even if a TSB is not readily available. Of course, if your Service Manager is a dick, then...........

I told Dennis (Service Advisor) @ Don-A-Vee the same thing and gave him the part #. He and the tech (Mo) told me it was normal due to 'frame flexing'....!

I asked them why the passenger door doesn't do it. They just shrugged their shoulders, then wrote "can't duplicate problem" on my service record.

ARE THERE ANY GOOD DEALERS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA?

i've had a similar noise, but it wasn't the door, it was the plastic around the b-piller and door bottoms. I rolled up some electrical tape and slid it under the plastic so it wouldn't "bump" against the metal it stopped making noises. probably would be better to use something better then rolled up tape, but it works for now.

I have a similar clunk noise when going over bumps that seems to be coming from the driver side doors or b-pillar. I'm thinking it's the rear door because the rear door paint has a few dings around the latch like it has hit the adjacent metal plate that the striker is attached to. I will raise this with my dealer tomorrow.

Thanks Billarf, Definitely appreciate the info. My dealer is usually pretty good. so I should have no problems.

By the way, Do you know of any local land access for wheelin'? I can't find anything in the area, the closest I've found is PA.
