Default Any write up for fuel pump replacement?

I figured I'd start a new thread. I've tried searching but not finding much for the 2012+ JK. I think my fuel pump is bad. I'm trying to decide whether to tackle this myself or pay someone to do it for me. Is anyone aware of a good write up or video on replacing the pump? It's a 2014 JK.

I've dropped the gas tank a few times and it isn't bad. I'll have to look through my pictures to see if I can find one of the top of the tank. The important pieces are the vacuum lines though- break one of those and you'll be using epoxy to recreate them vs buying any entire new tank. I'm sorry you're having problems but also glad because it should be helpful when I go to replace my pump. I think my float is off so I can never get a full tank anymore.

run your tank to empty, drop the tank (watch your lines), unplug the wires and pop off the fuel fitting, get a set of these to remove the fuel fitting https://www.amazon.com/Lisle-37000-C...SIN=B0002SRCK6, unscrew the sending unit and install the new one. Worst part is pulling down the tank from under the jeep.

I know that Jeep says that the fuel filter never needs to be replaced but it has to be trashed after a certain number of years? Or is this some type of special unit that magically can't get clogged up?

The pre-filter is constantly being cleaned by a jet of fuel across its surface. The main filter is quite large. Unless dirty fuel is put into the tank, the filters don't seem to get plugged.
My filters have 195,000 miles and 12 years on them with no sign of needing replacement.

Yea I don't think Im having an issue but at 176k I've never even questioned mine. Just always wanted to know on that. I've replaced the filter on an 04 WJ and it was trashed for sure.

Check for power before you go dropping the tank.
Could be that $hitty relay in the TIPM

If you've seen my other posts, you'll see that my problem wasn't the fuel pump. Much worse. I had a broken valve spring in the engine.

Hey all,

I know this thread is a couple months old, but I did a (my first) youtube video of replacing the fuel pump assembly on a 2008 JK. Also a little spot on fixing the roll over valve connector that breaks frequesntly on these tanks. Appreciate any feedback!
