Had a problem today. I drove my jeep to work and it was fine. 8 hours later I go to get in my jeep start it and put it in reverse and start to back up and it won't budge. Sounds like the tires skip when trying to reverse and also I step on gas slowely and rpms go up but I can't move back. So then I shift it to drive and I give it gas ans it hops forward. So I shut it off turn it on again and shift between drive and reverse, when I shift to reverse I hear a grinding noise like its trying to catch a gear. Finally I just give it a little gas forward and walla it starts to drive like normal. So is this normal? This is my first jeep, I'm starting to miss my Porsche and the German precision.

Yup I live in the high desert so the jeep seemed to be more practical. But these problems are annoying.

Three weeks ago at 57000 miles took it to the dealer for a leaky transmission cooler line, fixed under warranty. Didn't even get home and noticed a vibration when shifting from third to OD. The dealer had me come back and loaded some new software that was supposed to fix the problem. I drove it home again and immediately called them back and told them the vibration was still there. he said they would have to replace the torque converter but not to worry it was covered under warranty. Today i called to set up an appointment and he told me the only thing covered under warranty was the cooler and i would have to pay for the work already done before they would do any more work on it.
The problem i have is it was working just fine before they worked on it the first time and now they want to bill me for fixing their screw up.
UPDATE: after i mentioned i had yet to fill out the two previous surveys about their service and was going to file a complaint with the BBB, they decided that it was all covered and i didn't have to pay for the work they had performed. the service manager made an appointment with me to try and fix the issue. they replaced the torque converter, flushed the system and replaced the fluid.
the shudder is still there. the service manager said it was fine when he drove it, i offered to take him for a ride and he felt it before we had gone three blocks .he said it wasn't the torque converter it was in the transmission itself. returned to the dealer and they are working on it now.

Default warranty or not

Yeah, I felt something a miss in my transmission and did a flush at 30,000 miles, then at 60,000. I don't want them working on my Jeep, so I did it myself.

complete rebuild, another new torque converter, and reflashed the computer again. finally fixed the problem. all for the low low price of 1500 bucks. seriously thinking about trading it off for a toyota or something. love my jeep but i don't trust it anymore.

My 2010 JKU has been in the dealer for a week and is still waiting for a new tranny to arrive. The check engine light came on and it went into 2nd gear "survival" mode. Just over 40K miles. I have a JKU RHD that I use on my Rural Mail route, About 50 miles a day. These Jeeps are marketed and sold to Rural Carriers all over the U.S. and Canada. Jeep knows what we use them for, as a matter of fact the owner's manual says "Postal Jeep" on the cover! You would think that Jeep would have made the auxiliary tranny cooler STANDARD EQUIPTMENT! Instead they treat you like an Idiot for not installing one yourself! Fortunatly they are covering this under warrantee. I know of four other Rural Carriers in town who have had the same issues and have replaces transmissions under warrantee.

I have a 2013 jku with the auto and I have a problem with it I think. When I am taking off it acts like it wants to shift but doesn't. Rpms drop some but no gear change. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks everyone

Question

I just bought a 2013 JK (with Automatic trans). So far so good with only 1,000 miles on it.

What MODEL transmission is in my 2013 ?

How many other models and years is this tranmission used in ?

How long has this model transmission been in production ?
