Bought my '08 2 door X with 65,000 miles and they were both leaking. Not sure when they started, but they have since been replaced.

 

Last month my 08 x rhd 2dr 60k miles had the rear left side seal leak & replaced with extended warranty coverage. It ended up having a slightly bent axle. 2 1/2 lift on 33".

 

And... both fronts are leaking again pretty bad wonder if this is going to happen all the time? I'm tempted to go back to stock tires and rims at this point or just trade it in

 

130k 3.5 inch lift. 35s and no failures yet. I wheel once a month if not more

I dont always drive where others cant. but when I do, its in my Jeep. Stay muddy my friends

 

I have 2014 JKU Sport with ProComp 2.5 in lift, 315/70R17 tires. I had the Drivers side front axle seal leak at 6026 miles and now that same seal is leaking again at 8050 miles.

 

had the first go out at about 70k and the other go out at 130k. I have a leveling kit and 33s.

 

No axle seals leaking @ 80,000 miles. I've had both front shafts out for ball joint change. No leaks after reinstalling the shafts.

But then, I took precautions when the front shafts were out:
Cleaned the axle tubes
Cleaned the shaft splines and the areas the seals ride on, then applied some grease
Made sure the plastic discs were in the proper place on the shafts to ensure alignment through the seals
As an added precaution, I have the oil level in the differentials high enough to keep the seals wet.

This has worked on two JKs I have changed the ball joints on.

 

is there anything put togeather right on these jeeps ?????????????????

 

There is a thread on jk owners that shows a homemade tool out of threaded rod, nuts and washers to change seals. I can post the link if I am ok to do so....
