Axles-- 3.21 or 4.10?
Is there a big difference in axles-3.21 4.10?
If I order the towing package it changes the axle ratio. If I put an aftermarket hitch on, the I could get the 6 speed with the 3.21.
Any Comments?
Thanks

You get more kick and better acceleration with 4.10's. 3.21 is kinda low mang, especially if you gona tow. but if plan on just light crusing on the hiway 3.21 is better for gas mileage. 3.21 is standard with manual or auto.

I have the 4.10 with a 6 speed and 1st and 2nd are a little short for on road but great for towing and of road,as far as mpg i get about 22.9 mpg at 55 and 21 at 74 mph.so you pay the price and the high end for the speed at the low end.so do you tow a lot?city or highway? on road of off?

I like the 4.10's in my D44! Yeah first and second are both a bit short, but in the snow it makes for a good 2nd gear start. Plus it really does take off when I shift just right.

The only towing I usually do is a lawn trailer about once or twice a week. If the milage was a big difference, then I would do the aftermarket hitch, but if it's not that bad--4:10's it is.
