A res i think the p# is 68021163AC. It will power on but no Vol. control and no Vol. on the display but i get the time and channel # When i reset it by tuning on and off the ignition it will work. But after a month or two it will smoke out of the dash. I have a video of it if I can find it. I was told by a technician that it was "because i work at the airport and the airplanes are damaging my radio".
I told him he was full of it.
I told him he was full of it.
I work on electrical systems all the time but have not worked on the jk its under warranty and has been doing this from the beginning so i dont want to give them a excuse to void my warranty
DonP I'm sorry I don't know what exactly is wrong but it sounds like the main JK wiring harness has something seriously wrong with it, a large factory defect. Those sorts of things as you probably know are very difficult (impossible?) to fix. It would take a very sharp technician (if Chrysler has any of those?) probably many days to go thru the whole system and resolve whatever the wiring problem(s) are, if even that would find the fix. Sad to say it but you might think about the lemon law and try to get rid of that Jeep.
