Default Bad sidewall on stock Sahara Dueler tires?

Does anyone know if this is a problem with the tire? It appears the rubber (which I was suprised to find is very thin, just a few sheets of paper thick) on the sidewall of one of my tires is peeling away from the surface beneath it. I don't think anything caused this as it has steadily gotten worse. What is now my spare took something in the side wall and gouged out a chunk, but the rubber is not seperating from the surface beneath it. Would this be a warranty issue, any ideas?

Default Buy new tires

The Duelers are crap. You might be able to get it fixed on warranty. If not, I recommend just buying a new set of tires. It isn't worth replacing the one tire with another Dueler that is going to fail again anyway.

I certainly don't demy they are crap, though I've been pleased with them off road for what they are. However, I can't afford $1200 for a new set of tires yet, so I'm stuck with these for now.

Default Might Have A Solution

I might be able to help. I also live in the Phoenix area and I just bought a new set of wheels and tires for the jeep. I'm thinking about selling my old wheels and tires. They are a set of 5 stock 16" X wheels with 32" BFG A/Ts with about 17k miles on them. The set is still in fairly good shape and the BFG A/Ts give a great balance of on/off road performance. Let me know if you're interested. I'd hate to see you drop more $ into crappy tires.

I have worn through to the white, with alot of rock crawling, but never chunked it like that.

Is there a bulge in that area now? If so you have carcas damage too.

Looks like you rubbed up against something like a rock and it took a chunk out of the side wall rubber while 4 wheeling.

I have lost a few P-rated tires (stock tires) on my pick-ups at work, especially when I have been supervising some forestry road constructioin and in areas were the road is drilled and blasted. If you accidently rub a rock with your sidewall with these P rated tires....99% chance you get a nice slash or chunk removed from the side-wall and the tire is basically toast!!

I have learned over the years to trade in the stock tires on trucks & SUV's for a more aggressive LT tires or better before that vehicle leaves the dealer's lot!

That is from an impact on the tread. Pothole, curb or something like that. It would not be covered under the warranty, but it never hurts to ask. If you have a good relationship with the dealer they may CS it.
