Sounds good, hope that C1405 just turns out to be a connector that needs re-seating or cleaning.

I clicked on that link above and had to laugh at the Cali warnings that are on just about everything to cover their legal butts. Geez, it's nylon!

It worked but I had to trim one side of the bushing with a razor blade and taper it. Definitely not a perfect fit but seems like it may work and hold. I think the proper fix is the $65 cable and assembly for sure if this falls off again

Tackling the C1405 - Transfer Case Range Position Sensor Circuit High code today. It seems like step one is to at least remove the sensor and inspect plus inspect the wiring but its right on top of the transfer case and I can't really get a good look at it. Does anyone know if this can actually be pulled without pulling the driveshafts and lowering the transfer case?It seems like it could be possible if it were your second time doing the job for sure.

It may be covered under lifetime powertrain but maybe not. I could get that nonsense that it's considered a sensor and therefore only internal parts get replaced.

This is the only part listed on Rock but I am not sure with a Sahara 3.73 if it's the correct one but Im pretty sure that would have nothing to do with it and the TC is standard on the 4x4 package all around.

For $65 I'd give it a try myself to make sure 4x4 is good to go. That would really suck if you get somewhere and then cant get out.

Looks like the right sensor, but have you tried just removing, cleaning, and re-seating the connector?
Side note, pretty sure there is no locking tab -- just press and pull.

While I've not done it on my JK, it was an easy pull on my TJ. Just as an FYI- it was like $20-30 at advance auto and they had one on site. I paid $70 years ago.

I was just trying to figure out if it's possible to pull it with the transfer case in place or if you have to drop it. I figure the electrical connector just pulls off after pressing in but how does the actual sensor come out? Just pulls up and out? Enough clearance?

Just seeing if anyone completed this job before I go crazy with it.

The sensor threads out....20+mm nut if I'm recalling correctly.

That sensor is a stepped resistor. Cant remember the ohm value but each step tells the computer what position you are in by providing a different resistance value. At 200k miles I would just change it but do what MrT suggested and clean it up as well.
