We went with the BF Goodrich Rugged Terrains, a PREMIUM AT type tire with an advanced tread design.

There tire choices for this application are slim, since this size was mainly used on high dollar, premium crossovers.

Exactly. I was looking on tire rack and half of them were crossover tires.

I would like to lift and add bigger, more aggressive tires and have flirted with that option but being a college student now, I'd rather save for a quality lift and all the other necessities. I need an all season tire with good winter/snow performance. I have the 18" wheel since my JK is a Sahara. For now I'd like to stick with the stock size which i believe is 255/70R18. It's a 2008 2dr with 30,000 miles. What do you guys think?
Too bad you weren't closer, I have 4 stock Duellers with 5000 miles on them in my cellar that you could have.

Just curious, have you considered GY Duratracs in a 275x65/R18 size? I'm having the same questions about replacing my stock tires, when the time comes & have narrowed down the choices to a 255x70/R18 GY Silent Armor and the 275x65/R18 GY Duratracs. The Duratracs are the same diameter but 0.8" wider (10.8" v 10") than the 255x70/R18 size. Everything I have read suggests that tires under 11" in width should fit. I'm looking for confirmation, however. By the way, 275x70/R18 tires are 33" in diameter and should also fit on a stock JK.

I've heard conflicting info on whether the duratracs will fit without rubbing. If they do rub it probably would only be at full lock but I'll probably just sick with what's guaranteed to fit.

I don't think you'll have a problem fitting 265/70/18 if you wanted to check out those offerings. I think that the size I'm gonna run next. There's a guy selling some Cooper AT's down in what I think is the Pittsburgh area for $450 in the billboard section. I liked the look of those tires in that size.

I still stand by those Firestone AT's, they are similar to the Bridgestones and Silent Armors at a lower price. I've got two friends in Erie running those in that 10 feet of snow that they get. Do you wheel around here?

I have yet go to wheeling at all. I'm from a suburb of Cleveland on the east side but I'm at college now in Columbus... go bucks! I would sure like to go wheeling though, as long as I know it's something my mostly stock JK could handle.

Of the four all terrain choices in that size you have on Tire Rack I'd say the GY Silent Armor's or the Firestone AT's.

Specs all seem better and they get better reviews.
