Default Bestop

Has anyone installed a Bestop from scratch? The instructions say its a level 3 difficulty (out of 4) and a 3 hour job. I'm just wondering if I'm up to tackling the job today. I got limited time.

Bestop makes a variety of products--from safari tops to trek tops to replacement fabric that goes onto the stock softtop frame. Which one are you installing?

It's a complete soft top with frame. Sorry, I should have been clear on that.

It takes me less than an hour, and the help of one person for about two minutes, to switch from my hardtop to my softtop. The other person is needed to help lift off the hardtop and place it on the ground (I have a special carrier for it that attaches and stores it upright that I then roll into the garage). I don't know why Bestop would say three hours. Perhaps it's not mounted to the frame already? In that case, I would think you could do the setup work separately from the install. But, the install is really pretty easy. Do make sure it's a reasonably warm day lest it be very difficult to stretch out the fabric to latch down the hardtop. Seventies are great, but I actually did mine the first time in the 50s with the help of another person to help me pull the top taut to secure the latches.

Yea its completely disassembled so that's probably why. I got the bug yesterday when it was 65 here in Maine, but like typical New England weather it's freaking snowing today. :bs:
