Default BFG MT's turning blue.

So I only have 2800 km's on my 4 door rubi. I have gone offroading several times. Mostly mud and some rocks. I washed it several times and didnt have a problem. About 2 days ago I washed it at the wand wash, and I NEVER use the foam brush.

So I just rinsed of the jeep and drove home. Now I look and my tires and they have turned a light blue. In the sun light its really obvious. It looks horrible.

I tried taking a cell phone pic but it sucked. I have been busy working so I havent had time to drive let alone scrub the wheels and tires. I rubbed my finger on it hoping it would rub off but it looks like the rubber has actually turned blue.

So, has anyone had that happen? Will some soap and elbow grease get it out/off? Any kind of crap I can rub on them? I really dont like those wet tire can of crap things, but if it gets rid of my clown car blue MT's then i'll be happy.

This is common on any tire, especially if you go offroad and leave your mud on the tires. I wouldn't worry about it. Just apply some wet tire shine and it'll go away.

It seems to happen to the military HMMWV tires all the time. Some people blame it on driving too fast (temperature change) or it could be the pH of the mud. It is not permanent, it goes away on its own in a few days.

What he said. BLEACH WHITE is the best tire cleaner out there. I have used it for years on many vehicles. Just be careful about getting it on your wheels. It likes to stain them sometimes.

I experienced the same thing on the Bridgestones. I used the Armor-all wipes because I hadn't found a good spray on yet. It worked for a few weeks and they started turning blue again. I'll have to check out that Bleach White next.

I live on the backroads so I'm used to blue tires.

It's because of the calcium chloride used to treat the roads.

If you are close to deep soft sand drive around in it for awhile and that will clean them off. Any way it takes the red clay out of them.

I just use a scrub brush on my tires with the leftover soapy (dirty) water in bucket after I'm done washing. It seems to take care of the blue...until the next time I'm in the mud :toung:

If you clean them they will be black. Go a few weeks without washing you but and see what happens.
