Default Hitch extensions

Anyone here who's using a hitch extension... How is that working for you? Any excess noise/wobbling/clunking/etc? Curious, as this is the route I was thinking about going, but was concerned about potential issues. Thanks!

Mine has an assembly that allows you to tighten the mount against the hitch pin. It doesn't rattle at all.

I use an extension for my cargo tray. I simply put a few warps of duct tape around it and it is good to go.

I just thought I would share that I went out and purchased a Yakima KingPin 4 Hitch-mounted rack. With stock 17" wheels/tires the rack would NOT clear the spare tire nor can you open the tailgate (the idea of the flip down post doesn't help because the bottom piece hits the tire).

It seems the Thule racks must extend out further than the Yakima - seems a few have stated it works fine with stock tires. I haven't decided if I will go with a Thule or get the hitch extender. I see others saying that with non-stock tires they need the extender anyway.

I am curious if others with the extenders have any sway or rattle. Given the racks have the bolt that tightens the rack to the receiver I would guess the extender introduces some rattle or movement.

McNinja - does your extender allow you to tighten to the receiver? Or do you mean the bike rack to the extender?

Mine tightens to the receiver. It is all one piece, I didn't have to daisy chain an extender in there.

Thanks - anyone else using the extender with a bike rack that could comment on whether or not it adds wobble or too much movement? Seems like if the bike rack has the bolt to tighten down and the extender doesn't it might create some wobble. Thanks again for any feedback.

I needed to get an extender after I put the new wheels on.
Definite wobble. Makes me nervous. I'm afraid the pin is going to snap and I'll be extracting my bike from the wheels of a semi.

I've tried hockey tape, electrical tape, thin foam to try and alleviate some of the movement. Nothings worked yet.

Any suggestions?
