Blown Engine (not supercharged)
They didn't specify what was wrong, and I bet you're right that they're throwing parts.
A new long block is all I'll settle for at this point after all of the problems on my particular engine.
The independent shop (rebuild) is an option, but I sure don't want the same engine issues coming back.
I plan to keep my Jeep a long time and have an expensive bet I'd lose if I ever sell it

As a last resort, IF and only IF the dealer still refuses to repair it - I would get a hold of a HEMI swap shop and ask them if they would be interested in swapping it out with another 3.8L they removed from another customer's JK. I imagine it would run about $3k total - engine installed out the door. However, I have seen JK engines for sale for under $1k in my area, so see how much the labor would be and work it out from there. Worse case scenrio, find the engine on craigslist and host an install party. I'm sure we would could get a lot of people to help out.

They need to tell u exactly what's wrong with it. U said a light knock. Could u have gotten some bad gas, did u spin a bearing is it a lifter. Make them show u the problem and definetly fight for warranty replacement if warranted since you have had problems with the engine.
I have to say, get it swapped and then work the complaint. SUMMMER is just around the corner and "Tin Cup" pass is waiting fo you. You'll win this case, but by then, you're Jeep will be like CJ today in the garage. Dealerships got thier name "Stealerships" for a real reason..... I do have to admit, the parts folks tend to be the most honest
