Bolt Size Help
Just about to throw the soft top on the Jeep for the first time, but I'm missing the door surround bolts and really do not want to pay $120+ for the six knob screws, if only out of principle. Anyone have the length these bolts should be so I can order them? I'm in Hawaii, so my access to metric bolts is limited to Home Depot or Lowes. Thanks in advance.

Soft top handwheel bolts for door surround
Just about to throw the soft top on the Jeep for the first time, but I'm missing the door surround bolts and really do not want to pay $120+ for the six knob screws, if only out of principle. Diameter of handwheel plastic knob 2.15" or 55 mm
Approx thickness of knob 0.5" or 13 mm
Approx diameter of knob's center shoulder 0.635" or 16 mm
Knob's center has hole to accept splined end of 0.312" or 8 mm shaft
Diameter of bolt shaft is 0.312" or 8 mm
Length of exposed, non threaded bolt shaft 2.6" or 66 mm
Thread size and pitch is 8 mm x 1.25
Threaded length of shaft 0.35" or 9 mm
End of shaft is an unthreaded taper; length 0.25' or 7 mm, tapering from 6 mm to 5mm with a rounded tip.
Bolt shaft is non-magnetic, appears to be stainless steel
Comments: The bolt shaft length does not appear to be very critical. The bolt shaft is designed to self-center itself as you guide it down the blind hole. A 3.5" (about 85mm) length stainless steel bolt with 8 mm x1.25 threads could work, particularly if you get some stainless steel washers to adjust the effective length. If you don't find a way to put a handwheel knob on it, you will definitely need a wrench to tighten or loosen the bolt
I recommend Ace Hardware if you have one near you. They have an excellent selection of this kind of material. You won't get much to pick from at Home Depot or Lowes.

Someone sometime ago said they got replacements at fastenall. If so do they have a part number or where they started looking? I took in my long one to get a replacement and they said they need more info.

I found the post.
6503259 is not it. That screw is too big for the bow ends. I'd find a Fastenal near you and go that route. You'll save yourself $.
I was missing the knobs for the door surrounds on mine and simply went to Fastenal and bought all of them for less than $4.00. Better than paying the Stealership $25 each!

Here is a solution...There is no need to go to the dealer and pay $20.00 each for these. Just call or go to your local Fastenal and place an order. All for $18.58 before tax. Ask for a discount, they can give it to you most of the time. It won't be a stock item, but they usually can have it within 3 days or so. I am sure McMaster-Carr would have these also but here are the Fastenal part numbers to make it easy.
