Default Bright shift indicator

I may have uncovered another "feature" on my 08. While on my way to work in the dark, i noticed my shift position indicator was VERY bright. I tried the gauge dimmer control but it didn't change the shift position P, N, D, etc display. Coincidentally my TPMS light was on due to cold weather. After a few miles the TPMS went off and the shift indicator returned to normal. A feature??? Also when the TPMS dings, it usually dings only once, but I've had it ding 3 times and (I think) 2 times. Does the JK know how many tires are low and ding that many times? I know the later models tell you which tire has low pressure. Comments?

I'm pretty sure my 2010 isn't that smart.

That side of the panel is lit through one circuit, the same happens when you get a check engine light- you'll see things are brighter in that area until the light goes out.

To the number of times it dings- I don't think the computer knows that. I have all of my sensors removed and it only dinged a couple times, certainly not 4-5.

its done on purpose.. as one of the "Attention" indicators will also be lit.. (check gauges, SES, TPMS, etc) they want to make sure that you see them so they also light the Shift indicator bright as well...
