Default Broken T-Case Linkage

I have been reading here and other forums about the plastic insert on the T-case linkage breaking. So far not a problem on 2015 Sport but I do worry about it. I live in Minnesota and it has been pretty cold so I worry when I shift it into 4 high when everything is so stiff. I have been reading about some people using a bronze bushing with a pin. Has anyone here done this? If so how well does it work?

I bought a new bushing when ours broke. I also added a very small hitch pin to ensure it will not fall off again.

The part number is 68064273AB

I bought a few as they were less than $1.00 each from the dealer.

There is one on each end of the linkage.

Thanks for the info. The pics I seen did the same thing but with a bronze bushing. Most of the pics I seen of the broken plastic part it looked like the plastic cracked. I would have thought Jeep would have used nylon instead of plastic.

I bought the bushing suggested in one of the threads on this issue and it didn't fit. So I cut a hole in the console while I had it out (a real project that I didn't want to have to do again). I covered the hole and bought a spare OE bushing. You can use my photo as a guide to carefully cut a hole in the console so you can install a spare bushing if the original fails. You don't want to have to remove that console on the trail. The bushings apparently aren't all the same size from year to year is why the suggested bushing didn't fit.

Welcome. The reason I got the OE bushing was because it was ready at the dealer and the hitch pin was easy to get at a supply store. No tinkering, no guessing and making a new solution. Just making the factory solution better.

The first one lasted 7 years, which is decent. Just remember to not force it and if it doesn't go into a gear you may need to put the transmission in neutral or roll slightly.

Is the bushing still plastic? I broke mine on the trail with the '08. Fixed it with a zip tie and it actually held for a couple years before I sold it. I assume its still holding
