Can breather hose caps go bad??
First of all, my statements about the "one-way" valve, I must have been smoking crack at the time. Of course they can't be one way valves since they can suck in water. Hell, I even extended them on my '03 Rubi and ran them to my snorkel for that very reason! What an idiot. That's what thinking too fast will do to ya.
well, I've cleaned everything up underneath and will check each day to see how much seems to be coming out. Good news is that today I didn't have a new spot in my garage after a long drive.
The more I think about the situation, the more I think about the amount of fluid. When reading on here about others doing thier changes, most state they are unable to put the full 1.3L in; that it begins to run out the stock filler hole. On my past Jeeps, I always used diff gards versus replacement covers so I did the same thing.
While I'm sure I got most of the old oil out (jack up each end of the axle to get as much out as possible) I didn't have the luxery of just filling until it ran out of the filler hole since I installed SOLID covers which have higher fill plugs.
In other words, after thinking about it more (I know, need to be careful) I now agree with the comments above that my problem could be caused by too much fluid since I put in the full 1.3L of oil the factory calls for. I wonder if the amount the factory calls for is in fact too much?
Has anyone been able to get 1.3L in a front D44 with the factory cover?

My front axle on my last JK leaked after long trips, no matter how much oil I put in the axle or what kind (regular, synthetic, heavy, light weight) but it only happened on long trips where the diff got really hot.
My Rubi spit some at about 3,000 miles after lonnnnnnng trip....welll...ok 200 miles
but it was 108 degree
not much but I was still like WTF? Until I read here that many seem to do it straight from the factory: somebody needs to wollop Employee 3247435 on the head and tell him "GO EASY there buddy!"
