Red face Can a standard soft top be "modified" to work like a sun rider?

I couldn't find any posts relating to anyone specifically having done this. But it appears to me (what do I know) that if you were to simply add the folding arms from the sun rider (cutting may be neccesary) it SHOULD work.

My wives jeep is a 2010 Sport 2 door. I have seen a few sun riders complete with all hardware for sale on CL for 400+ or so. But the roof we have is fine...just not the sun rider.

Does anyone know if there is a conversion kit or something available?

You'd also have to have the hardware above the doorframe that the folding arms attach to. It's a small ring with a handle that you squeeze to unlatch the sun rider.

To answer your question- yes, it's possible. There was a guy on CL a couple years back doing it for TJs for $75- presumably parts and a couple bucks for labor.

Is the top you have OEM? I've seen aftermarket non-sunrider tops but I'm not aware of them stock.

Sell the one you have and buy a new/used sunrider.

My 08 had a non Sunrider top. The build sheet said Sunrider. The dealer put one on. Not sure if there was a switch b4 I bought it or just an error from the factory. They made it right for me then Chrysler closed them down a year later.
