Can a standard soft top be "modified" to work like a sun rider?

Apparently I am not the first to ask about this. I found this older thread with photos...
It appaears it IS possible but you would need new door surrounds and the folding arms. It is probably cheaper/easier to find a take off/used one on cl or here. But apparently whom ever traded my wifes 2010 sport in apparently removed the "supposedly standard equiptment" oem factory top and replaced it/swapped it before trading it...
