Caught in the rain
Well it finally happened this aft. Got caught in a really good thunderstorm - roof down and doors off. I put the softtop up, minus the side windows and rear window (sitting in the garage at home)
. To my surprise it really wasn't too bad. At 55 km/hr there was barely any rain water coming into the cabin at all. The odd gust of wind was definately a bit cool and damp, but other than that really not bad at all. At 90 km/hr there was a fair amount of water coming in at the sides due to aerodynamics.... rain water was basically following the lower hood-line straight onto the side of the dashbaord and then down onto my legs/feet. The low pressure in the rear from running with the side and rear windows out caused a lot of road spray to get sucked into the rear cabin. Zeus was not happy, and pretty soaked by the time we got home (25 km in the rain)
All in all it wasnt too bad. Had small swimming pools on the floor boards, maybe half an inch deep, front and rear. Pulled the plugs, no problem.

i finally broke the dry spell/heat wave we've been experiencing here in MD. i've had the top and doors off (completely took the top off and put it in my screen porch) for forever now. i'd been loving the fact that i didn't have to worry about random storms, but the whole 100+ heat and lack of rain was getting old so i finally had to do it. I WASHED MY JEEP! i haven't done it since the end of last september and sure enough, it rained that very night and all through the next day. after washing it i put the top back on and put it up since i had a long ride and preferred the shade, but i left the doors and windows at home. my seat got soaked but other than that i was good. the jeep's been rained in and on many times before so it's no real biggie. not having any carpet or anything definitely eases the mind. so to anybody in the area, sorry about the rain (especially during the weekend) and at the same time, you're welcome. and to the OP, welcome to the club. it may have been the first time, but don't expect it to be the last
