It looks like no Diesel engine option for 2016.

Basically what they've been saying all along. Nothing. We'll find out when they arrive at the dealerships.

2016 and likely 2017 will still be a jk. No diesel option in 2016. Probably some color changes. Jeep likes to do that. The 15 model had a new subwoofer location, and a different speaker setup on the dash and soundbar. That being said its motor and trans are the same as 12-14. The chassis has been the same since 07. The wrangler just had its best April ever. If you find the 15 you want at a good price, it's probably safe to grab it, unless you can wait till the new generation which is said to be a 2018. Either way, these things have insane resale value. Look how much a clean used 05 tj sport is going for, it's ridiculous. There's only one convertible solid axle 4x4 being sold right now, as long as that is the case, these are decent investments for a toy.

Manufacturers rarely make serious changes to power trains on platforms nearing the ends of their production runs. Doubt seriously you'll see much more than color, trim & feature content before JK is phased out.

I went ahead and went with a 2015. It had the options I wanted and the price was right. Even if the 2016 has a diesel option it will be a 3-5k option in only auto. I wanted a manual.

Default 2016-2017 jk

The JK is way too late in the game for anything significantly different or new. "JL" will be the platform for diesel engines, new trannies, maybe pickup version. If you like the JK the way it is then WYSIWYG. Colors and special editions will vary. The 75th anniversary version should be inspiring unique version of a long list of JKs. If it is not then Jeep will have really missed the boat. MHO

i rather like the current JK, just hate the fact you cant order Navi in a sport!!! be nice also if instead of the "ECO" in the dash display, the music info would show up like it does when the jeep is in Accessory position...

and put the subwoofer back on the side and get it off the floor.. what a Dumb idea that was recessing it in the floor... makes it about impossible to carry luggage for a road trip..

my '13 Lease is about up and Ill be looking at a 16 to replace it, kind of think I like my '13 better than the '15s.. but i dont want to pay the residual after lease to buy a USED Jeep.. I'll surely get a new one whatever it may be like for 16.

You know you can configure the Jeep to change this right?
