Check engine light at 1,800 miles?
Here's the set up:
I have a 6-speed Rubicon that I picked up last month. I usually park it on level ground, in neutral with the e-brake engaged. The other day, however, I was on a slight incline and left the Jeep in 2nd gear, also with the e-brake engaged. Hours later, when I returned to the Jeep to start it up, I forgot that I had left it in 2nd gear and took my foot off the clutch with 2nd gear and the e-brake engaged. Obviously, the Jeep stalled. I then switched to neutral and restarted the Jeep. The check engine light came on.
On my way home that night I passed by a local shop where they know me and asked them to plug me in and run a quick diagnostic. It turns out that it was a cam shaft sensor error. This made no sense to me since a faulty cam shaft would not allow the engine to start, or would certainly cause some hesitation when starting the engine. Since the Jeep started up fine, I figured it was either a "hiccup" caused by the aforementioned stalling incident or a faulty sensor. I asked that he reset the check engine light and I would closely montior it to see if it would turn on again.
It's been about a week and nothing has happened since. Has this happened to anyone? I thought I would share.
