Chrysler replacing my 2012 wrangler with new one.
I have a 2012 6 speed Wrangler I bought new in October 2011. Shortly after I bought it I began to experience transmission issue (popping out of gear, noises in the transmission). After several attempts to fix it including replacing the transmission the Jeep is still having alot of noise in 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th gear though the popping out issue has been fixed. Chrysler has finally agreed to replace it with a new vehicle. I really want another manual but Im a little nervous about repeating the same problems with a new Jeep. Anyone out there who has a 2012 with a manual transmission please let me know how yours is performing so far. Should I role the dice on another manual or go with an automatic? Please weigh in, thanks.

I have a 2012 JKU Manual. I have had absolutely zero issues..there are not any know issues with this transmission. You just got a lemon (a function of buying American). Don't let it dissuade you from another straight transmission!
I have a 2012 2 Door with manual trans, I've had a problem from day one where just about once a day or so it will not go right into fourth, it will grind a little bit or maybe you could call it a popping out
Only have 3900 miles on it, brought it to dealer for first oil change and mentioned problem, they said there is a tech bulletin about this and they are going to replace the boot around shifter per technical bulletin
I'm half convinced it might just be me not shifting all the way into fourth, the jk shift has a pretty long throw and my more recent cars have been sports cars with very short throws, but it has never happened in any other gear...

Have a 12 built 10/11 i think (11/11). anyway, mine doesnt slip out of gear but the trans does make a sound. when in low rpm, but a high gear (like 1.5k rpm, 4th gear, doing 45) it makes what i can only explain as a metal chain clacking against a metal housing. comming from the transmission were is meets the bell housing.
it does it in almost all gears: 2, 3, 4. have not heard it in 5th or 6th yet and not in 1st.
i need to take it in, but have not had time yet

I have a 2012 Rubicon Unlimited with a six speed manual, bought it in Oct 2011. It has what I would call some transmission noise, but no more noise than any other full size 4x4 truck that has been equipped with a manual trany. It caught my attention on day one. Figured it was just how this design is going to be. Yet never has it slipped out of gear.
I would be interested in finding out if it is normal, or if Chrysler expected the trany to be as smooth as a Honda.
