Default Clutch noise?

Ok, I now have 3500 miles and I am getting what i would describe as bearing noise from I assume the clutch assembly (it goes away when you put slight pressure on the pedal). Had my dealer inspect and they say it is in the assembly, but it is inherent with the wrangler and nothing to be done with it! Actually said "I've heard worse it comes and goes.".......Anyone? Also, can we get a TSB listing for the new jeeps as they become available? Very helpful on other cars I have.

FYI>........

Apparently there is a Charcoal canister near the driver side rear control arm, I know becaise apparently I "ripped" it off while offroading, and a new one is ordered (at my cost of course) but won't be available til the end of December, so I get to drive my NEW jeep around with the Check engine light illuminated til then!

Just my $.02

I have the same clutch noise with only 265 miles on my Jeep. It only takes a very slight touch of the pedal and it goes away. It is definitely the throwout bearing but not sure I am worried about it yet. I havent listened to it outside the Jeep yet though. Maybe I will have the wife sit in tom. and I will see if I need it fixed.

No way, does the noise kind of sound like marbles in a tin can?? If so, that is just like the NV3550 tranny in the old TJ's

Yes it sounds like metal on metal whine. Yes it is the throw out bearing, and when you depress the cluth slightly (light pressure) it does go away. I understand noithing wrong, but that freaking noise drives me nuts.

Hey I appreciate the response, but yes there is a noise, and I don't mean the sound of the gears grinding when you don't depress the clutch. This happens when at idle, not in gear feet on floor! It sounds like a belt whine, or metal whine. Faint but definitely audible! The dealer recognizes the noise as the throw out bearing, but says NOTHING TO BE DONE!

I was just wondering if you all have any more info on this or if I am hearing the same thing. Whe in idle and no foot on the clutch there is a whining sound I guess that sounds similar to a cricket or something, kinda hard to describe. I can only hear it when outside the vehicle or have the door open. I was planning on taking it the the dealer on monday but I was just curious as to whether this was the same thing you all were experiencing or if its something new and serious. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Oh and my Jk only has 800 miles on it. Thanks

I hit the trails hard this past weekend and now know exactly what you guys are talking about. At first I thought it may be my timing belt, but then noticed it went away when i put slight pressure on the clutch pedal - dont even have to engage the clutch just slight pressure - anyway, has anyone talked to a dealer about this recently? I am wondering if there is a fix - like replacing the bearing.

I agree it is nothing major but it is annoying as hell in a nearly new vehicle!

There was recently a TSB resolving this issue which involved the throw out bearing. Your local dealer should have all the info. If not you can get the TSB information off here some where.
