ya its strange, it does it when i press the clutch pedal in or when it releases.

So i assume this is something i shouldn't worry about other than it being annoying?

sucks to say but as long as your clutch is working correctly i would ignore it.. if u take it in depending on your mileage it might not be covered, and they will have it for atleast 3 days.. like i said if its working correctly i would let it slide..

hrmm..well Ive got 33k on it now and i did purchase an extended warranty to 80k, so i guess i will have to consider if i don't mind losing the jeep for 3 days.

it wont be covered. a clutch is considered a "wearable" part, like brake pads. i think the warranty for clutch is 12k.. honestly if your thinking of fixing it i would get a centerforce clutch kit and do that. labor will be the same its just a higher quality part. just my opinion.

Several things going on here. Here's how I fixed my creaky clutch. Never comfortable with ANYONE working on my cars. Always a bad experience.

1. The plastic line from the clutch master cylinder running down the fire wall under the brake master cylinder moves every time you depress the clutch pedal. It's movement goes against the heat shield and can make noise. I got about a 6" peice of clear 3/8" pvc tubing, cut it length-wise and wrapped it around the line. Now it moves but doesn't rub up against the heat shield.

2. Bleed the clutch slave cylinder on the side of the tranny bell housing. Fill the brake master cylinder all the way (yes - clutch uses brake fluid from brake reservoir). Have a partner depress and hold the clutch pedal to floor. You go under Jeep and open bleeder (little plastic knob on top of slave cylinder (points up near where hose attaches)). You will get a bath. The knob turns about 1/2 a turn, it is hard to get to turn the first time, but is easy once brake fluid is everywhere. Bleed just like brakes. Push pedal to floor, open bleeder, get a brake fluid bath, close bleeder, release clutch pedal. Note if you release the pedal before you close the bleeder, you suck air into system and will require alot more bleeding. Don't let brake reservoir fluid go dry. The clutch sucks from a small partitioned section in the back of the brake reservoir, is hard to see, and only holds alittle fluid. After I bleed mine, did it about 20 times to get totally new fluid through the entire system, clutch was quiet as a mouse.

3. Still didn't seem right when hot and after a long drive. Pedal was spongy, clutch felt weak. Thought the clutch was just worn out. But, go under the Jeep and look above the bell housing on the fire wall. That little tube sticking out is the condensate drain from the AC. When running, the AC drips water constantly on the bell housing, soaking the area. I loosened the clutch slave cylinder bolts; was about to pull it out to lube the contact point. As soon as I started to pull it out, rusty water flowed out. I thought it was was brake fluid and the cylinder was leaking - crap, clutch plate screwed too. It was not brake fluid, I never lost or added a drop. It was water; water from the AC drain soaking the bell housing/clutch after driving in hot weather for awhile. I hav never been in deep water with the Jeep. I put a 1/2" clear pvc tube extension on the drain and routed down the firewall to below the frame cross-member. No more water draining on the clutch bell housing. Clutch now feels fine when hot and running the AC for awhile. Wish I would have saw the water drain problem before. Would have saved the clutch and all its moving parts from getting a wash-down overytime I ran the AC over the past three years. What a dumb design! I recommend this mod from day one to everyone, not just the manual tranny guys.

Some of this may be your problem.

Stooge - That was one helluva response!! And thanks a ton for taking the time to type all of that! It was extremely informative.

Das - It does seem to come directly from the pedal, its makes the noise even when the engine is off, and I also feel a "clicking" in my foot when i press the pedal down almost like there is some form of hesitation in applying pressure, along with the noise of the clutch coming from under the jeep.

I had this same issue with a previous vehicle, but it only happened when it was really cold or had rained a lot. I believe it is some connection in the clutch pedal linkage that needs lube. Some WD40 on what ever linkage you can get to could help.
