Default Considering power window conversion...

I now realize that having manual windows and locks in a 4 door absolutely sucks, so I started trying to see what options I have. I don't really want to trade in my jk because I don't want to go further in debt, so that would be a last resort. I called the dealer to see about converting it and they said it can't be done with oem parts due to it not coming with the correct module from the factory. I don't really want anything aftermarket because I like the look/layout of the oem. I have recently started looking into buying a totaled jk, and robbing the parts off of it, and the parting the rest of it out. If I could do this does anybody know if it would work correctly? I am assuming I would have to take it to the dealer to get it flashed correct? I may even look for one with an automatic in it as well and do a whole conversion...

Windows shouldn't be too bad really. I would imagine you could do that swap with the donor parts already out in one day. Also, I think the wires should be run already, so it should be a plug-and-play deal for the most part.

As for an auto, you mean a manual to auto trans swap? At this rate, I'd say trading for a different JK may be a better option. IMO, unless a vehicle is ungoing a full restoration or drive train rebuild, trans swaps are too much of a PITA.

Ok, ya I know the tranny swap is a little iffy I dont mind the manual but if I had acess to a whole auto setup I figure I may give it a look. We will see, just have to do some scavenging and see what I can hunt down.

Keep in mind the costs differences too. Not saying it's impossible or dumb, don't get me wrong.

Just have to look at the price of a donor, amount of work that needs to be done, and resale of donor and parts. Could Maybe even make a little profit really...

I myself would not knowingly inflict pain upon myself. Here's why. Even if you or the dealer were able to install this setup. The amount of items that could cause a failure are more than I can count. Further more, The random gremlins that you are going to try and hunt down 1 week or a year after this installation will overwhelm you. In my opinion it would be better to ask you best friend to kick you in the ball bag until you pass out and rip all your hair out because that's how you gonna feel after this whole experience

Honestly, the windows don't bother all that much. I have gotten used to them. Plus, I know there is no regulator that can fail, etc. Simple can be good here.

But the door locks... now that SUCKS. Having to reach inside and contort my arms to unlock the doors for the kids every single time we walk out to the Jeep, having to take the key out of the ignition and walk around to the rear to unlock the tailgate cause I forgot, etc.. it just plain sucks.

Live and learn I guess.. live and learn.

I'm trying to take on the same task with my 2010 JK. Would you be willing to help me out. I think I have the right parts, but would love to get your guidance!
