Default Interior Smell Once In A While

Not trying to hijack this thread or resurrect an old thread, but I have noticed that at times while driving I get a slight smell of coolant inside the cab... It doesn't last very long and it is random. Usually does happen when I have the heater on though, so I don't know if that is connected somehow, but I do notice a slight coolant smell. Anyone else experience this and get it figured out that could help me out a little bit?

Thanks
Ray

Have you looked around the water pump for seepage or corrosion?

I haven't noticed any so far. It doesn't seem to be losing coolant either. At least not very noticeably.

I've had it happen in two trucks. One Ford & and a Chevy. Turned out to be the heater core both times. It took quite awhile before the leak was large enough to spot, though.

I have a 2103 JKUR with 17,800 miles. It was slowly loosing coolant, but I couldn't tell from where. (No smell inside though, however you could smell it from the outside). Anyway, took it to the dealer and they found a small leak in the radiator, between it and the a/c condenser.
Also, they found a leak in the thermostat housing. Replaced it too.
Hopefully no more leaks!!

Thanks for the help guys. It's nothing terrible yet. But I would like to take care of it before it becomes a real problem. That gives me other things to check. Thanks again guys.

Had a coolant smell for a long time. Never saw any puddles or anything. Eventually my temp started kicking up and the smell got worse. Ended up being a slow leaky water pump. Not serious but will eventually go. Went at about 95k miles.

yep, I have a 2016 75th Anniversary Edition, Jeep actually swapped out the radiator at 20K miles, but low and behold still smell antifreeze after I go for a drive, it’s enraging, as soon as off warranty swapping radiator with a Mishimoto or other high end unit.

yep, I think this is the reason, it’s a cheap plastic bottle and the cap is not really secure.
