Crash Test - Wrangler gets 5 STARS
Had a car run a red light and at ~40 mph T-Bone my 2000 TJ in the side. Spun me a few times, broke both drive shafts, buckled the floor pan, busted the rear diff, and a few other things.
I had a big not on my shoulder from the seat belt for a couple of months, but that was it.
He was in a smaller 4-door Chevy (celebrity I think) and hit hard enough that his motor mounts broke and dropped the engine (as designed to keep it out of his lap).
The side impact on the TJ was great IMHO.
And Jeep doesn't do the test, the American Highway Institute decides what vehicles they test. I'm sure it will be doing side impact before long

So, here's the video on YouTube of the JK Unlimited crash test... all things considered, the Jeep holds up REALLLY well.

The engineers on another jeep forum claimed that it was because they were only using the inline 6 in the wranglers and wanted to streamline operations. That was during a q/a on one of the jeep forums.
