Default Dash removal

Ok so I was getting in my Jeep this afternoon and before I jumped in I tossed my cigarettes and lighter on the dash. I heard a clunk, looked up and my lighter was gone. Sh|t. My lighter just slipped down between the dash and the windshield.
I slipped my fingers down there and nothing. I have no idea how far down it went.

Aside from the fact that I'm not to comfortable having sealed flammable gas in my dash, the lighter wasn't cheap and I would really like to get it back.

Anti smokers; I am not the least bit interested in any "quit smoking" comments.
Just looking for some constructive advice.

Thanks.

Fold your windshield down. That will open up the front where you can look for it better. Here is a write up that may help with the windshield: How to Fold Your Windshield

A preventive measure, once you recover your lighter.

Since presuming that you left it on the drivers side, you have a few choices.

1. Remove the whole dash which isn't really hard as long as you know where the screws are

2. Remove the instrument cluster and reach in there and see if you can find it

I've dropped screws in there and just removed the trim around the instrument cluster, then removed the instrument cluster and out came the screws.

Thanks for the suggestions all. I think I will take the route of removing the dash.

Does anyone know if there are any dash removal diagrams online?

Where the screws are, etc...

That happened with a friends Blazer. We did'nt know it 'till it exploded & scared the s%(t out of us . It was winter and the defroster was on. I'm making margeritas for my wife and myself so do'nt expect coherence.
