Don't forget the friction additave if you have the limited slip.
I have the X Unlimited so I assume I don't have limited slip diffs. Or am I wrong in this assumption?

Yes, cracking open the diff to clean it out is definitely a good idea from time to time but I personally find the drain plug to be quite convenient. As far as friction modifier goes, pretty much all synthetic gear oils have it in it now and they are not needed.

Actually, a limited slip rear was available as an option on X and Sahara models so I wouldn't be so quick to assume.

How would I know if I have it or not?

Well, typically, you should have a diff tag that will say as much but for one reason or another, not all diffs have tags anymore. You could always crack open your diff cover and do a physical check but it might be just as easy to check your window sticker or recepit if you still have them.

I'll check my window tag but from what I've read, those can't always be trusted

I was going to put the synthetic 75W-140 in the rear anyways because I do tow from time to time. Would that be good enough?
