Default Does anyone else think the lo fuel display is flawed?

I don't understand why they would make the dte display just say "lo fuel" once it went under 30 miles dte? My liberty that I had before the jk dte's display went all the way to 0. I don't normally ride my tank that low, but it just seems to be an oxymoron to have a dte display that becomes useless when it is most needed. I know that the computer isn't very accurate with gas milage, however I believe that it should always display the dte. Any thoughts? I also assume there is no way to change this?

My only guess is they don't want to be held responsible if the display shows 5 or 10 miles and you get stranded somewhere w/out gass. I doubt there's a way to change it w/out re-programming the computer

Thumbs down yeah

That sucks, I would rather have a number than a lo fuel flashing at me... I know I have low fuel I can see the needle getting close to the Enough symbol.....

I have found the computer pretty reliable in this respect. Before it tells me "Low Fuel", I have recorded how many miles until 'empty' it calculated, and it has always been accurate (+/- 9 miles?)

US automakers purposely make the low fuel light highly inflated, for the dumb people out there. I saw a report on the nightly news just a week or so ago about this very question. They drove a chrysler minivan almost 45 miles after the low fuel light came on.

I don't think it's flawed. As said above, it's more for the idiots out there who RELY ON IT.

Plus, the gas tank really doesn't know how much fuel is in it. Depending on an incline or not, you may read that you have more or less fuel than reality shows. Plus, it's all relative to how you're driving (stop and go... freeway...). The last thing i'd want to see is my DTE go from 30miles to 5miles because i just got stuck in traffic, after descending a mountain (For my jeep, it reads more fuel when facing down hill, than up hill)

I just went through my first tank of gas. The DTE goes to LOW FUEL at 30 miles left? WTF!!! Dumbest thing ever. They already calculate the DTE to 0 when there's still 2 gallons left!

Also, does the Rubicon have a 22.5 gallon tank or 18.5?

The size of the tank depends on if you have a 2-door or 4-door.
Back to the subject. Why would you want to run the tank down to the last pint of gas to begin with unless you're pulling a Kramer? Do you really want your fuel pump sucking air everytime the jeep is on an incline?
