Default dog kennels???

I have a 70 lb Yellow Lab that comes with us everywhere- and so does his fur.....

Anyone know of a portable dog kennel that will fit in the rear of a JK with the rear seats in the upright position?

Default Unlimited or 2dr?

Is your JK an Unlimited? Would make a big difference in what will fit...

If it is Unlimited, something like this Soft Crate might work well....

I have a large size Petmate Portable Kennel. It fits with some room to spare. You may be able to get an XL size back there...but it would be very snug. I usually just use a harness and buckel my dog up front unless I'm going somewhere that I'll be staying for quite sometime....

Amazing how quick we are to give the 'wave' or to try to assist another dog lover. Your pet likely has the same tendancies as our 2 Shorthairs and Australian Kelpie. Unless it's a wire crate you'll be cracking open a bottle of Chiante to go with the squirrel the dog brings after escaping from a fabric/screened one.
All folding wire crates are OK but you should make sure it's a 'suitcase' style meaning that it folds up to be the size of it's base dims. Formed plastic models are good indoors but aren't good for allowing warm air in winter or cool in summer temps.
We use 2 types for the vehicle Prescision and Kennel-Aire.
Consider also putting together a platform so you can get the crate up high with storage available under it. Also keep in mind securing both so they don't take you out in a panic stop or minor collision.
Happy wheelin'.

I have a yellow lab as well, so understand. What works for me is tying here leash through the hook on the rear storage compartment. This provides just enough slack to let her move around in the back without getting over the rear seat. Don't have to worry about lugging a kennel or anything around and keeps her in one place.
