Door actuator not working, help
The door lock actuator in my drivers door has stopped functioning. Does anyone have the replacement part # and probably more importantly a write up on how to replace it?
If you are talking about the manual door handle or button on the outside, the fix is typically just some kind of plastic clip holding a rod in place inside the door. If you are talking about a power door lock, you could possibly need an actuator (don't know the part number = dealer). Could also be the switch on the door or the battery in the fob.
If you have checked all of this already, please pretend you didn't just waste your time and move on to someome's post that may really help.

lol, thanks kaptkrappy, at least I got a smile out of your post.
Just to add some more detail to the problem.... This is the actuator for the power door lock. This is what locks the door when you press the lock button on your key fob or use the power lock switch located on the door.
When I use my key fob or the door switch they work great for activating the passenger door and the tailgate but the drivers side does nothing. It started failing a couple of weeks ago, as in I could use the key fob to lock / unlock / lock to get the drivers side door to work. Each time the drivers side door sounded weaker and weaker.
So to simplify my question, does anyone have a write up or directions on opening the door panel??? Looks like two screws in the arm rest but that is all I see, is the panel lined by those "snap clips" and I just need to pry it off? Trying to avoid breaking that high dollar plastic

if you google k6860781
you'll find the instructions for assembling the half-doors. Not exactly the same but close enough to give you an idea of what's involved.
I seem to remember someone posting about replacing the power windows motor. Search for that on the forum. That window will be the biggest difference from the half door.
note that the half door instructions involve non-power actuators, but the power ones are a virtually identical install, they just use a different part and different wire harness. (i've installed both in half doors)

Look up how to install power door lock actuators on google. From here it will give you a step by step instruction with the installation of the actuators. Many instructions have said that the rod on inside the door is weak and the actuator tends to slip off sometimes.
I just had mine replaced on a 2012 4 door. Left passenger door started to fail after a few weeks of ownership. It took the dealer a few weeks to get the part in.
